A travel portal has to answer three questions (where, when and what to do) and grow without paying for new design. For Tripindex we built a map with temperatures on the markers, city pages and month-by-month guides, all assembled on one template.

How it works

Search by city and month

The first screen asks only where and when. Picking a month instantly changes the selection of cities and the temperatures on the cards.

Weather right on the map

The typical daytime temperature sits on the markers, and filters pick out cities from 20 °C and by sea temperature. Clicking a marker opens a card that links to the city page.

The whole trip on one page

The Athens page brings together photos, month-by-month tabs and sections on accommodation, things to do, car rental, events and guides.

October in Athens in three figures

24 °C by day, 11% rainy days and 23 °C in the sea. Alongside, a note on where the data comes from and links to September or November for comparison.

About the project

Travel portal that grows city by city without new designs

A trip starts with three questions: where to go, when, and what to do once there. A portal that answers only one of them loses people at the second step. Tripindex needed to give each question its own way in and lead all three to the same city. It also had to grow with new countries and cities without a fresh design every time, or each city would cost as much as a separate project.

There are three ways in. Search on the home page asks for the month right away. The map shows the typical daytime temperature right on the markers, and filters pick out cities from 20 °C and by sea temperature. Country, city and month pages all follow one template. “Athens in October” gives the three figures people look for before a trip: daytime temperature, share of rainy days and sea temperature.

A dedicated page for every “city + month” pair answers a specific search query, and a clear hierarchy from country to city is easy to read for people and search engines alike. We build structure the same way in SEO for content projects. Building a website for a travel agency or hotel? That’s what our travel website development is for. Let’s discuss your project.
