Tourdewine

Built the Tour de Wine (France) store for rare and collectible wines on WooCommerce — with a custom theme built on our own apricode parent theme. A faceted mega-catalog, cart and wishlist on Alpine.js with no page reloads, English and French versions.

How it works

Faceted mega-catalog

A catalog on four axes: country × classification (Grand Cru, DOC, DOCG) × grape variety × type. Separate sections for Champagne, Whisky, Calvados, Cognac, Cigars, and Rum.

Wine product page

A wine flies into the cart or wishlist instantly from its product page — a custom AJAX action, apricode_add_to_cart, with no page reload.

Checkout

The cart updates on the fly, then a standard WooCommerce checkout takes over. For a catalog of fifteen hundred items, that's the difference between "keep browsing" and "close the tab".

Two languages for international sales

English and French versions with hreflang and x-default — the store sells from France and ships, per the site, to 48 countries.

About the project

You don't buy collectible wine through "Catalog → Red". Burgundy Grand Crus from Domaine Leroy and Domaine François Lamarche get searched along several axes at once: country, classification, grape variety, type. Per the site, the catalog holds 1,472 products shipped to 48 countries — the task was to make that volume navigable in two or three clicks, without reloading the page on every cart or wishlist action.
